I encountered this sign just the other day at a local McDonald's. I'll be sure to go back to 1995 and inform my grandma. She'll be stoked.

Goals
Adam and I are trying to go this whole weekend eating only fruits and vegetables (and diet coke and coffee for me, and, apparently 1 bag of peanut M&M's for Adam). We started Friday afternoon.
I don't really know why we're doing this. I guess just to make sure we have at least a shred of discipline. And maybe there are some detox benefits to it, but I have nothing to back up that claim.
Yesterday Adam said, "You know this wouldn't be so bad if I could just eat some meat." Um, agreed. Then he wondered out loud what you call a person who eats only fruits, vegetables, and meat, but no other animal products. I said I didn't believe that person exists, and if he does, he doesn't get his own category because that's just stupid.

Company's come and gone
Just said goodbye, sadly, to my friend Ryan, who very sweetly drove nearly 30 hours out of his way to come see us for a few days (Gulfport is not exactly on the way from Chicago to Oklahoma City.) Ryan and Gus were completely taken with one another. It is such a wonderful thing seeing a dear old friend loving my kid so much. Here is a fantastic picture Ryan took right before he left.

The REAL Mother Goose
Anyone remember the nursery rhyme that begins like so:
"Robin and Richard were two pretty men
They laid in bed til the clock struck ten."
????
Anyone?
Yeah, me neither. Who knew Mother Goose was so progressive?

One step forward, two steps back
I have been working lately on becoming less cynical. I don't like that side of myself. It's not a becoming trait. But I got majorly derailed this weekend in that effort now that Palin is back in the headlines.
