Dear Gus,

It has long been my Family Tradition at Thanksgiving time, to humbly and sincerely give thanks not only for the good eats, but also for the excellent people who are my family and friends, the wonderful folks who make up the diverse communities I'm a part of. I'm pleased and proud to be a member of your family, little Gus, and on this, your first Thanksgiving Day, I want to thank God for you, your ten little toes, and as we Quaker put it, I'm "holding you in the Light."...Just like I did when your father was born, with his ten little toes, pleased and proud to be chosen his Godfather, so many years ago. And now you've made him a father, today he's probably carving Thanksgiving turkey at the head of the table, thanking God for his good fortune, just as you will, some day, sweet baby Gus. You are a special young man, and we all love you, everyone of us who've been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Hugs, Uncle Booger

P.S.
Normally, being Thanksgiving Day, I'd touch base with Adam's birth family, his folks and my other Godkids, in the previously-mentioned spirit of grateful celebration of family, friends and community. And I will be giving Adam, Laura & Gus a call shortly, but this year, now, I also wanted to use this forum to send a grateful 'shout-out' to this new-to-me community, The Coast Is Not Clear community, Laura's good-hearted family and the other fun folks I met at the wedding, and also those of Laura's community who couldn't be there but who've contributed to this blog's Comment Section, it's been a treat to read your input, and get to know you better. Thank you, one and all, for being part of this cybercommunity, this far-flung circle of diverse good people who cares for Laura & Adam, and cherishes Gus and his ten little toes. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, we've all got a lot to be thankful for.
