Living in the present

I really am taking the Christmas tree down today, I promise! Will any of you confess to being a fellow sad sap who just couldn't bear to do it yet?

I took the tree at work down yesterday, Laura! It seems so cold in the office without all the Christmas garb...but James and I took our tree down on New Year's Day. But, if I could, I'd leave it up year round.

Leaving the tree up until today is perfectly fine. Today is, after all, the twelfth day of Christmas--a. k. a. "Twelfth Night."

I have been telling myself to take it down since last Sunday. It is so exciting to put it up but the taking down is just a chore! I will have to take it down before the weekend, It would be sad to have a friend over with a Mardi GRas tree. Sadly i have thought about it! Gus is so cute!!! Looks like he has grown!

You could leave up the tree and decorate it for Mardi Gras. People do that in New Orleans. You are close enough to The Big Easy to get away with it.

I haven't taken mine down yet either, and not because I can't bear for the season to be over or anything, I am just lazy. And honestly, I don't see the gumption arising anytime in the near future!

I still remember a neighbor of ours down in Luling, LA. She still had her tree up in MAY!!! Said it was so pretty, she just couldn't bear to take it down yet! Then I looked over at her couch and saw it full of stuffed bears that she played with all day, and that explained everything! Guess the bears enjoyed the tree along with her. This same woman spent 2-3 hrs on her hair every single day, also. I think she had a few "issues".

We (and by "we" I should actually say Brandon) took it down on Saturday...yup, the 10th. It was a real tree, but we cut it down ourselves in mid-December and it hadn't even dried out yet...and looked so pretty! I miss it. I'm glad I didn't see Joey's post about the Mardi Gras tree until now, or else I might have been tempted to leave it up until then!
